Consumer confidence is 33.6% higher than one year ago, according the Westpac-Melbourne consumer sentiment index.
The survey, which was released today, found that sentiment rose by 5.6% in January to 120.1 index points. The survey result is seasonally adjusted and takes into account traditional January optimism.
The rise reverses a trend from the previous two months which saw a decline in consumer sentiment in response to rate increases.
